Hurumanu 6 Hero's and Villians

I have made a timeline about Adolf Hitler. It doesn't talk about his whole life but it says a little about him and what his achievements are.

A timeline of Adolf Hitler’s achievements.

Table tennis & Juggling

For the past 3 weeks for P.E we have been working on our juggiling skills and playing table tennis.
I have really been working on table tennis. The table tennis balls are very light so just a light tap is enough to move it across the table. I always get close to winning and sometimes do win. We play first to 11. Its diffucult to hit the ball at just the right force so it doesn't go off the table so it goes to your opponent.

I worked a bit on my juggling as well. It was very hard. 2 objects with 1 hand was doable for me but doing 3 with 2 hands was extremly hard. I managed to do it for 2 or 3 seconds and then couldn't do it again. Trying to start and find the easiest way to do the juggiling was hard. The hand eye coordination was the hardest part of it but the most fun to do. Trying to watch where the balls are and moving your hands to the right spot to throw them back up again felt almost impossible to do. Doing it for a few seconds felt accomplishing to me.

I really enjoyed both table tennis and the juggling despite how hard they were. If given the chance to do either again I would really consider doing it.

Sustained Silent Reading

Today for Hurumanu 6 (power to the people) we had to do 10 minutes of reading.  The book i'm reading is called Flash Flood by Chris Ryan.

I got to the seventh page today and so far I have learned that we are set on a bus and its raining hard outside. The train is an old version with doors that slam shut and the windows rattle. The main charcter isn't clear at the moment but the names we have are Rachel and Ben Tracey. We also have 3 charcters called Nose, Eyebrow and Septic who seem to be reckless kids in there youth. The are trying to get attention by sticking there head out the window of the train and yelling.

I have now read page 7 to 14.
The story continues with it raining outside and a story about someone feeling sick and vomiting out a window of a train the story then had a man named Ben say that this person had their head taken off. Nose, Eyebrow and Sceptic were listening to this and tried to imply that what they were doing was nothing like what has been said by Ben. We then got some more story about a grounds keeper. It had been raining in London a lot and the grounds kepper couldn't do his job so he got in his car and tried to drive away. His car would't start which is normal but then a car slide into the rear of the groundskeepers car.

June 3rd
I have read page 14 to 24
The story has talked about a ship out at sea. It was impossible to see and the captain had a stroke.
Henrick (the main charcter for this part) had figured out thte captain was having a stroke because he had seen it happen to his grandmother. Our main charcter for now is hearing collision alarms. Then there was a crash. A medical officer had just came to look after the captain. Henrick was thrown to the floor, the captain had tumbled out of his chair and the medical officer was thrown against the wall. A container ship had crashed into the concrete plinth at the waterline that is what the ship had hit.

June 8th
I have read page 24 to 31
We have now been talking about Dr Bel Kelland. She is an environmentalist talking at a conference. She talks about global warming and stuff like that. After the meeting she goes to leave when she runs into a man named Clive. Clive says that the prime minister of Canada would like to meet with her. She had plans to meet her son so instead she called someone named Cally to get them to entertaine hime for a while. We then go back to what is happening with the crashed ship. One of the gates on the Thames Barrier is stuck because the controller is busted. The controllers are trying to find out a way to fix this and move the supply ship. They have 1 hour to do it before high tide.

June 15th
I have read page 31 to 40
We go back to Ben now and suspense has really built. The water has rushed over the walls where he is and now the street is flooding. The water is smashing against the walls below him, everything that wasn't tied down went down the street rapildy. People on the streets were grabbing onto trees and other things. The book says that the water was about 3 meters deep. It was upto the first floor of the building across the street, the tree trunks were under water. Ben heard something below him possibly screams he says. The book has really intresting and is full of suspense.

June 17th I have now read page 40-57
Water is still flooding everywhere. We were told about someone getting trapped in a train station and then another man in a jail cell at the police station. Their situation seems dire. Its a matter of life and death for both of these people. The man in the jail cell is stuck. 2 ploice men had unlocked the door however the door was sealed shut because of the weight of the water. Water in a glass seems to weigh almost nothing however water in large quantities can be heavier then steel or metal.

June 22nd I have now read page 57-60
The water is still rising. This man in the jail cell got realesed but put in handcuffs and taken upstairs. However the police are taking short cuts which is slighlty surprising.

Ideas for recycling

For textiles we have the option of making something out of recycled materials. I am planning to make a pencil holder. For this I will need cardboard some material to make it look nice and then something to hold it together.
