For science we started creating hands. We used a hand cutout and straws to make it. We then put string through the straws to make it so we can move the fingers. We used 3 different cut straws to replicate each bone in the finger.
Definitions of different parts of the hand.
Joints - An area where 2 bones connect. There are 3 main types of joints. The synovial, cartilaginous and the fibrous.
Bone - Each finger has 3 bones. The thumb has 2 bones. The hand has 5 seperate bones for each finger. Bone is a strong material that protects and gives structure to the body.
Ligaments - The ligaments are fibrous connective tissue that connect bones together.
Muscles - The muscles control the movements of your arm and fingers. To move our arms and different parts 1 bone must contract or relax. They produce force and motion. 2
Tendons - Tendons are a fibrous tissues between each bone so that the bones dont rub againist each other and destorying each other.
Cartilage - The cartilage is a tissue that provides support for bone movements and provides some protection against impacts.
