Give peace a chance. Social studies.

 Give peace a chance.

The message of the song was to give the idea of peace a chance. It's an anti-war song inspired by the Vietnam war. He also used the line give peace a chance several times when asked what he planned to accomplished by staying in bed.

Making salts 2. Science.

Aim: To produce copper sulfate salt by reacting copper oxide with an acid.

Equipment: Copper oxide powder, dilute (0.5 mol L-1) sulfuric acid, 50 ml measuring cylinder, two 100 mL beakers, Bunsen burner, tripod, gauze mat, funnel, filter paper, thermometer, spatula, evaporating basin, stirring rod.

Method:

1. Add 20mL of sulfuric acid to a 100mL beaker. Heat the acid until it reaches 70 degrees celsius. Turn off your Bunsen burner.

2. Once heated. Use a spatula to add pea-sized portions of copper oxide to the beaker. Stir the mixture for 30 seconds.

3.  Repeat step 2 until no more will dissolve. Allow the beaker to cool.

4. Fold the filter paper and place it in the funnel. Place the filter funnel into the second beaker.

5. Make sure the beaker is cool enough to hold at the top. The contents should still be hot. You may need your teacher to complete this step.

6. Gently swirl the contents of the beaker to mix, and then pour into the filter paper in the funnel. Allow to filter through.

7. Rinse the beaker you used to heat the mixture previously, and place it back on top of your tripod filled with 50-60mL of water.

8. Place the evaporating basin on top of the beaker and carefully pour some of the solution from the beaker into the evaporating basin.

9. Gently heat the beaker until the solution in the evaporating basin has reduced by half.

10. Leave the evaporating basin to cool. Once cool move the evaporating basin to a warm place where it will not be disturbed (i.e. a window-sill) and observe over the next few days. Blue copper sulfate crystals should form.

Interests

My interests are really just gaming.

I don't see myself using that as a career path. Although could be a good stress reliever in the future. I'm also interested in business so that could help me create a video game production industry.

Creative writing. The Narrative: English

 Show Don't tell

What does this mean?

It's like seeing is believing. You must show someone for them to believe rather than just telling.

Rewrite these sentences to show not tell

The buildings are tall.

The constructions tower over me

Sarah was really upset

You could see the misery pour from her eyes

She was so happy to see him

Her face lightened in his presence

The lake was beautiful

The lake sparkled from the gaze of the sun

The guests praised me when I entered with food

I could saw the bright burning inferno as it turned everything to a crisp

I saw a large man walk past me with his large black bushy beard and combed short hair.

The firepit quickly turned the cold dark colored room a warm bright welcoming yellow.

Sensory Settings:

The grey-colored concrete walls provided no heat. My fingers froze to the point they were so numb I felt nothing.  I tasted blood although It couldn't be actual blood. The sounds were so incredibly loud my ears rung for days.

It was ginormous. It stood 4500 feet tall and cost somewhere around 7 billion dollars. It was labeled the 2024 tower of man. It had 4 food courts, every single food was chosen by civilians and I can say the food taste amazing.

The stone-built hut stood alone in the hilly grass field. The grass grew tall and was very bright green. You could smell fresh flowers, you could hear birds chirping.

Setting backdrop:

The sun-scorched any living creature in sight. The sand was blown by the raging wind. Tumbleweeds moved so quickly they could kill. A sandstorm formed removing all the sand from the area along with any insects that survived the sun. Their legs still moving as they seemed terrified.

Reflection

I learned there is a lot of different information needed to create a character. I can write characters for stories easier now. I enjoyed thinking about the details for my character and trying to base it on a certain person or just thinking randomly. I enjoy writing whatever I want, just being able to write a story without any restrictions.

The Beatles Tour Viewpoints

Hi, this is my post about the Beatles and how they traveled to New Zealand  for a tour.

The New Zealand Beatles tour had many people for it and against it.

The people who wanted the tour are fans and those most likely bored of old music and an older generation. Those wanting to get out of the more traditional view of their ancestors.

Those against the tour wanted to keep the tradition and beliefs of those that came before.

The Beatles: Social Studies

The Beatles is a 1960s rock band.

I listened to the song Help

The song help is about The Beatles wanting help as they would be crowded because of their fame.  His quick rise to fame gave him a lot of stress and he was very fat and depressed in his own words.

1940s music was very traditional. There isn't really any massive power or beat/drums to give the song power. The kind of power that brings a song to life.

Social Studies: ANZAC

This is my blog post about Gallipoli/WW1 and the Anzacs. It shows important places.

We also learned about the Last Post. I often hear the Last Post on the 25th/26th of April every year as it's ANZAC Day. This song makes us remember the ANZACS and how they fought for us and their importance to the current day and us. The Last Post originates from the Netherlands. It was a song that signified a military tattoo and was played at the end of the day. This song represents all the soldiers that both lived and died, not only the ANZACS but every brave man or woman who fought for us in WW1.
