Creative Writing Reflection

So over the few weeks, we've had in English we have been working on creative writing-related things.

We had 5 tasks to work on. I first started with sensory language. Sensory language is writing a short paragraph or even a story about the 5 senses. For this, we were tasked to talk about the 5 senses without using certain words like taste, hear, and stuff like that. I learned how useful a thesaurus can be. A thesaurus is a sort of dictionary. You take 1 word, find it in a thesaurus and the thesaurus will show you other words that mean the same or similar.

Next, I did work around similes and metaphors. I write about what a metaphor and a simile are. I gave a few examples of what they are.

Then I wrote about language features. I wrote about personification, alliteration, and onomatopoeia. I wrote about what each of them do and what they mean, I also wrote an example of each.

After that, I wrote 4 Haiku. I learned that a haiku must be based on a season. I decided to do a haiku for each season in chronological order starting with summer. A haiku has 3 lines, the first having 5 syllables in it, the second line had 7 and the last has 5.

So then my last activity was slam poetry. I wrote about how slam poetry really didn't appeal to me. I didn't enjoy it although say it rhymed I'd enjoy it more.
