Mixing and Separating (Week 5)
Week 5: Evaporation
Notes:
We know from last week, that a solute cannot be filtered from a solution once it has been dissolved.
This week your task is to find out:
- Why a dissolved solute cannot be filtered?
The particles after dissolving are too small.
- What evaporation is?
A liquid becoming a gas due to higher temperature or higher pressure. This contributes to the water cycle.
- How can evaporation be used to separate a solute from a solvent in a solution?
When evaporating the dry solute particles will be left behind which separates the solute from the solvent.
